NEWS > CAMPAIGNS > TRAVEL & CANCERTravel and cancer campaign
In June 2006 Cancerbackup published the results of our research into the experiences people have in trying to purchase travel insurance after they have been diagnosed with cancer.
As part of this research, we asked people who contact Cancerbackup, including families or friends who have tried to purchase travel insurance on behalf of someone with cancer, to take part in a survey. Cancerbackup is working with the Association of British Insurers (ABI) to help make sure travel insurance works for people with cancer. The full report of Cancerbackup’s survey can be downloaded below and the results are also summarised in the following press release.

In Parliament
Since the launch of Cancerbackup’s report, several Members of Parliament have signed an Early Day Motion (EDM) highlighting the difficulties faced by people with cancer trying to get travel insurance.
The Government has now announced an inquiry into the sale of travel insurance as part of a holiday package, and Cancerbackup looks forward to seeing the result of this inquiry.
